Proposal tabled due to animal cruelty fears
OGDENSBURG, NY — A carwash and pet wash proposal has been tabled here by the city's planning and development board due to traffic and animal cruelty concerns, the Watertown Daily Times reported.
The June 6 story said Robert A. McGrath wants to open the P&T Car and Pet Wash this fall. It would be open 24 hours and be fully automatic and would require no personnel.
However, Karen L. Cunningham, president of the St. Lawrence Valley Society for Cruelty to Animals, said she feared people would bring dogs to the wash that are infected and/or people would abuse their dogs with the pet washing equipment.
“I think there should be more supervision,” Ms. Cunningham said in the story. “There are some really strange people in the world these days.”
