Former cop opens detail shop in memory of brother
ROCHELLE PARK, NJ — Harry Sandwith, owner of Dirty Harry’s Detailing, opened the business to fulfill a promise he made to his late brother, NorthJersey.com reported.
The June 26 story quoted Sandwith, “It was a promise I made with my brother, Richard, before his passing in 2005. We always talked about opening a hand car wash detail center and working for ourselves. After he passed from lung cancer I wanted to keep our dream alive.”
Sandwith retired from the Jersey City Police department a year ago, and he decided to open a small detail shop with the potential to grow. Dirty Harry’s specializes in very high-end detailing for private planes, exotic and classic cars and boats and yachts.
The business is family-run. Sandwith works with his wife Debbie, who handles the scheduling and bookkeeping. His son Joseph, a full-time Jersey City police officer, helps out when his schedule allows.
“We are growing quickly and are considering hiring returning military personnel who may be looking for work or possibly a new trade,” Sandwith said.
