Commission signs off on detailer’s expansion
WAUSAU, WI — A business owner here is looking to expand his operation by adding a carwash area, a deep-cleaning station and a larger tire storage facility, the Wausau Daily Herald reported.
The July 18 story stated that Olson Tire & Auto Service Inc. opened in 1987, and it already offers carwash and detailing services on a limited basis. The proposed new building would allow the business to add “deep cleaning perks” like waxing, scratch removal and headlight polishing.
To allow for the expansion, the city would need to rezone a residential section for business development. The Planning Commission unanimously recommended approving the rezoning proposal, and the City Council will vote on the issue Aug. 13.
Though some residents expressed concerns about the traffic the expansion would add, Owner Kent Olson reassured them that traffic would be minimal because the carwash would be private and employees would hand wash the vehicles.
