Who wants a free iPad?
Maybe it’s a good thing, maybe it’s bad, but, over the last few months, I’ve noticed a new trend in my house. Even though we have access to two laptops, two smartphones and an iPod, it seems like someone is always waiting to use an electronic device. And there are only three of us! Remembering my grandmother’s stories of growing up in rural Alabama, the only thing that caused this much worry and woe in their household was eight people all using a single bathroom.
Sometimes, as I fume over the wait to use a certain device (Take a number, dad!), I’ll take a step back and ask, “Why do I really need to use the laptop/iPhone/iPod?” And, nine times out of 10, it’s for information. As a culture, we all seem to be almost addicted to the streams of social media sites like Facebook and Twitter.
Heck, I admit I am. I depend on both these sites as news sources. Facebook is an easy and entertaining way to find information about various businesses and brands as well as keep up with my extended family and friends. Further, I keep a constant eye on Twitter and use the site as an up-to-the-minute news source. Instead of learning about breaking news in hours or days, we now have the ability to read about a news story in minutes. Sometimes, Twitter postings can even be used to follow a breaking story as it happens.
Bringing this blog full circle, one of my duties as managing editor with Professional Carwashing & Detailing is updating and maintaining both our Facebook and Twitter feeds. Each week, we report on breaking carwashing and detailing eNews stories, and I post them daily for our social media followers. Last week, we reported on a new Cactus Car Wash location, covered leather interior care, learned about a carwash owner ordered to spend weekends in jail and discovered the world’s strangest carwash non-burglar.
The editorial team works hard to put together eNews stories that are interesting and relevant to carwashing and detailing. So, if you are a true blue social media fiend like I am, please swing by our pages and sign on. Fewer things brighten my workday more than new “Likes” on Facebook and new followers on Twitter. Also, both websites are easy ways to ask PC&D’s editorial team questions or pass on industry information.
Finally, if you really have an electronic addiction, what could possibly be nicer than an iPad? “Sure,” you say, “but those awesome little tablet computers don’t just grow on trees. Don’t you know we’re in the middle of a recession?” Thank your lucky stars and hold onto your hat; PC&D is giving one away…for free! Website visitors can enter into the drawing for a free iPad by completing the registration form on carwash.com. Once you register, not only are you entered into the iPad drawing, you will also have full access to all carwash.com articles, blogs and digital versions of previous PC&D magazines. Registered users can comment on and rate the articles on the website as well. Also, did I mention registration is free?
So, don’t be like me. Register at carwash.com and maybe you’ll win a tablet computer of your very own. Just be sure and send positive thoughts my way as I’m stuck, once again, waiting in line for a family laptop or smartphone.
