DOUGLASVILLE, GA

The Atlanta-based Cactus Car Wash opened up another location here, which ups its total of locations to 11.

The carwash held its grand opening ceremony on Saturday, July 21. The day included a blessing by a Cherokee Native, jingle dancers and tipis.

The carwash includes an adobe-style, 9,800-square-foot building and Southwestern decor. The eco-friendly chain, which also has sites open in Florida and South Carolina, uses only green products, which are free of chlorine bleach, phosphates and EDTA. In an attempt to save water, the newest location includes its own well.

The lobby area also has an iPad lounge with free Wi-Fi. The carwash will also be giving away an Apple iPad every month from now until December.

FORBES, NEW SOUTH WALES, AUSTRALIA

The owner of a new self-serve car and boat wash here was surprised by how much business the wash drew during its first week of operation.

Forbes Car and Boat Wash opened during the third week of June, and a large number of people have already used the wash. Ed Coulston, who owns the wash with his wife Belinda, told the press that business has been wonderful.

The wash has four self-serve bays and one automatic carwash. In addition, the property includes four vacuum bays and a detailing area. The self-serve wash is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

GARDEN CITY, KS

The Tunnel Car Wash opened here on July 6, and ended up giving away 1,100 free washes to its brand new customers.

The carwash is an express exterior model that was designed by Ken Green, who also operates The Car Wash in Garden City.

The tunnel was designed by Tommy Carwash Systems and is about 100 feet long. The tunnel only uses eco-friendly soaps and chemicals provided by CO Chem Oil.

Green stated in a press release, “We use modern equipment designed to provide a gentle, eco-friendly and, above all, effective deep clean."

GLENDALE, AZ

A new carwash location here gave away free washes to celebrate its grand opening.

Clean Freak Car Wash gave away two weeks of free washes. The free wash deal started on July 25, and ran until August 5.

GREENSBORO, NC

Tint World’s celebrated its newest store’s grand opening with a three-day celebration that included food, promotional items and detailing discounts.

The grand opening event was held from Friday, June 1 to Sunday, June 3. The celebration featured a 50 percent off discount to any auto detailing package as well as $30 off any window tint package.

The grand opening was catered by Hooters Girls and Marozzi’s Pizza, and featured local radio stations 100.3 The Buzzard and 105.7 NOW. Both did live remote broadcasts from the new location.

Store owners Daniel Apa and Joe Fazio stated in a press release before the grand opening,  “We’re excited to open the doors of our brand new Tint World store here in Greensboro and can’t wait to let customers into our modern showroom so they can see the professional work we do, especially as the car audio leaders of North Carolina.”

JARVIS, ONTARIO, CANADA

A used-car dealership here built a larger building across the street from their business to expand detailing operations.

The retail location is called Squeaky Clean Car Care. The new building allows the detail operation to double their production, working on five to six vehicles at a time.

Supervisor Ernie Bigelow told the press that the building they had before was too small and they could only do three cars at a time.

The business, which has two full-time detailers, also brought in new equipment including an ozonating system. This system removes odors from ventilation systems.

The car lot had been detailing cars pretty much since it opened, and the new signage led to more clients taking notice. Bigelow noted that he was sometimes seeing five to six new clients a week.

MARLTON, NJ

The brand-new Promenade Car Wash and Detail Center, located here, opened for business on June 28.

Owned by Michael A. Ambrosini, the conveyor carwash uses MacNeil Car Wash Equipment, and Blue Coral Car Wash, ArmorAll, Black Magic and Rain-X carwash products.

"I am excited to be here in Marlton, NJ, to service the surrounding South Jersey area," Ambrosini told PC&D. "We have a good group of employees and our commitment is to exceed our customers' expectations."

ROCHELLE PARK, NJ

Harry Sandwith, owner of Dirty Harry’s Detailing, opened the business to fulfill a promise he made to his late brother.

Sandwith said he and his brother Richard had always talked about opening a hand wash and detail center together. Before Richard died in 2005 from cancer, he promised he would keep their dream alive.

Sandwith retired from the Jersey City Police department last year and opened up Dirty Harry’s, which specializes in very high-end detailing for private planes, exotic and classic cars and boats and yachts.

The business is family-run. Sandwith works with his wife Debbie, who handles the scheduling and bookkeeping. His son Joseph, a full-time Jersey City police officer, helps out when his schedule allows.

Sandwith also said they’re looking to hire returning military personnel who may be looking for work.

SOLDOTNA, AK

A widely known car restorer and custom auto glass cutter, Brad Debellis, is moving his business and adding auto detail services here. C&C Auto Glass is even adding Class Act Detailing to its name.

The detailing side of the business will be headed up by Debills’ wife Gerri Giver. Giver explained that auto detailing enhances people’s investment in their vehicles.

And, since Debellis has a background in auto glass, the business also offers rock chip repair and total windshield replacements on anything from heavy equipment to boats.
