ABINGTON, MA — Neighbors are upset with the Abington Citgo here, mostly because of the after-hours carwash, bright lights and overflowing Dumpster, the
Enterprise News reported.
The August 7 story said neighbor Stanley Kogut complained that the issues have been ongoing since 2008. “I am trying to be fair, too. You can only put up with so much," he said in the story. He also said someone was using the carwash's vacuums at 8:45 p.m. one night in July and the carwash was in use at 6:15 a.m. on July 19.
Selectmen are giving the multi-profit center a chance to clean up its act. However, Chairman R. Andrew Burbine said in the story, “At some point, it’s going to be up to the board to make a decision."
Attorney George L. Whiting, who is representing Abington Citgo, said the Dumpster issue has been resolved and the lights have been dimmed to appease the neighbors.
Selectman Michael W. Franey said Citgo should meet with an electrician to see if there is a way to keep people from using the carwash when it's not officially open for business. “I don’t think it would cost a ton of money to do that," Franey said in the story.
