Setting up a website: How one detailer did it

August 15, 2012

INDIANAPOLIS — M.C. Gallion, co-owner of S&G Auto Detailing Services here, was able to set up a website for his business after attending a workshop, reported.

The Aug. 13 story stated that the workshop was sponsored by the Indiana Small Business Development Center, Google and Intuit. The website package offered by Google and Intuit included templates that simplified the Web design.

“I really didn’t know that it is so easy to set up, and I didn’t know the price was so affordable,” Gallion said in the article.

Gallion set up the site, and now he will pay Intuit $7.99 a month for web hosting. There are plans to expand the site including added functionality that will allow customers to place orders online.

Even though 97 percent of consumers search for local business online, only 42 percent of small businesses in the U.S. have a website, according to the story. Websites are especially important today because printed phone books and guides are giving way to online resources.

“Having a Web presence is really important because more and more people rely on the Internet to even find a business,” Victoria Hall, regional director of the Central Indiana Small Business Development Center, said in the story.
