Surf's Up Car Wash opens in Cleveland
CLEVELAND ― A new carwash has opened here called Surf's Up, and it was designed to not only save money, but the environment as well, according to the Cleveland Daily Banner.
The August 26 story said the carwash recycles 80 percent of the water used. Owner Jon Woodward, who also built the carwash, said in the story, “As far as we know, we are the only carwash in the region with these new advances and some of the equipment we have installed. ...We have four 750-gallon tanks [through] which the water from the carwash is recycled, filtered and cleaned, and then stored for reuse. We reclaim approximately 80 percent of the water. Very little waste goes into the city sewer system.”
A basic carwash costs $5 and includes free vacuuming, an air freshener and a window cleaning.
The carwash also has a tracking system which records the customer's choice of service and it uses Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).
