Vintage matchbook shows L.A. carwash
LOS ANGELES — A vintage matchbook image shows the old Wash-N-Gas Car Wash location here at the corner of Beverly and Virgil, according to Los Angeles Magazine.
The April 1 posting said the "shrieking orange cheesehole girders" owned the intersection in 1962. A few years later, Wash-N-Gas enclosed the beams in Palos Verdes Stone.
The matchbook was available right before the business took out the "N-Gas" part of their name.
The story noted that the location has since been renamed Silver Lake Car Wash, and they now offer a $7.99 wash special on Wednesday and Thursday.
