Teen who killed woman at carwash pleads guilty

FRESNO, CA — Jose Saldana pleaded guilty on his 19th birthday to the murder of Denise McVay at a carwash in 2011, the fresnobee.com reported. He will likely spend the rest of his life in prison.

The May 4 story stated that Saldana plead guilty of murder, special circumstances of torture, lying in wait and murder committed in the course of a robbery.

McVay, a single mother who worked as a housekeeper and in a retirement home was washing her car in a self-service bay around 5 A.M. on July 26, 2011. Saldana stabbed her more than 30 times and slit her throat.

Because Saldana was 17 at the time, he cannot receive the death penalty.
