Storm prompts city to mandate 'grease traps'

SURIGAO CITY, MALAYA – A tropical depression east of the city has brought to light issues with the city’s sewage systems.

According to the story, the depression will likely intensity to a tropical storm and the previous failures of the sewage system has caused local officials to order some businesses, such as carwashes, to install “grease traps.”

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority says the grease runoff from cars “sticks to the drainage like super glue” and that future flooding could be avoided by this simple installation.
