Abu Dhabi man wants to capture rainwater for carwash

ABU DHABI, UNITED ARAB EMIRATES — A 33-year-old section head at Abu Dhabi Gas Industries has invented a device to collect rainwater to use to wash cars at Q2, a carwash owned by Abu Dhabi gas Industries.

Emirati Abdulla Alshehi said Q2, as an “environmentally friendly” carwash is always looking for ways to reduce the amount of water they use, which is typically three to five liters per car and 280 liters on large vehicles.

According to The National story the device, which is patent pending, would be set up in the ocean in order to collect fresh rainwater before it ends up in the saltwater sea. It would cover almost 20 square kilometers.
