Man sells home, blames carwash

July 16, 2013

HORNCASTLE, LINCOLNSHIRE, ENGLAND — A man has sold his £158,000 home for £1 saying he was fed up with looking at the bright yellow carwash across the street.

Homeowner David Johnson had put his home on the market before selling it to his son for next to nothing and said a sale had fallen through because of the brightly colored wash.

“I’ve nothing against [the car wash owners]. They are trying to make a living,” Johnson said in the story. “Good luck to them but we’ve had enough. We’re off.”

Bed and breakfast owner fined for carwash

Horncastle Hand Car Wash owner Sarkan Mustafa said, “We don’t want to fall out with anyone. We have had no other complaints.”

According to the story Johnson had to be escorted from a town council meeting after accusing councilors of a ‘double standard.’

Johnson’s son will have to pay all of the legal fees associated with the sale.
