Township strikes down carwash proposal

July 29, 2013
BERNARDS TOWNSHIP, NEW JERSEY — The Township Committee struck down a plan that would have allowed a carwash to be built on town-owned property.

Citing the site as “environmentally constrained” in the story, Committeeman John Malay said without an Environmental Impact Statement they could not see it being feasible on that site. Malay also said members of the Parks, Paths and Recreation Committee didn’t want to lose the green space.

“It was also an area that was donated to us for recreational purposes,” Malay added.

The Township has tried to develop the property twice before.
