Convenience store bans energy shot sales to minors

July 31, 2013

Although requiring identification for energy drinks is not required by any local, state or federal law, Casey’s General Stores have decided make sure people purchasing the items are over 18-years-old.

"Below the age of 18 basically sometimes they don't make the best decisions, it's not the fact that one shot has more caffeine than a cup of coffee, it's the fact they could buy five of them and make a very concentrated drink and drink it all at once," said Brian Johnson, of Casey’s General Stores in the WMCTV 5 story.

Minors are prohibited from buying even one energy “shot.”
