Who is this year's keynote speaker?
Bob Hurley, Sr. will be giving the keynote address at this year's Northeast Regional Carwash Convention. The keynote address will take place at 10:45 a.m. on October 8 at the Trump Taj Mahal.
Hurley, 66, is known for his altruism and tenacity in the basketball world. He started coaching at the Saint Anthony High School in Jersey City, NJ, and despite a limited budget and old, worn-out equipment, he turned the team into a winning powerhouse. During his 39 years as coach, the team school won 25 state championships and had more than 1,000 wins.
On April 5, 2010, he was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame, and is one of three coaches to hold such an honor.
Hurley and his team in 2003-04 is subject of the best-selling book, The Miracle of St. Anthony by Adrian Wojnarowski.
In 2007–08, Hurley and St. Anthony High School were filmed for the documentary, "The Street Stops Here." The documentary follows Hurley and his fundraising efforts for the basketball team.
For his keynote address, Hurley will share how he was able to steer hundreds of former players to a college education. He will share how to overcome obstacles and succeed.
