ObamaCare enrollment date delayed until next November
WASHINGTON — The Obama administration is delaying the start of next year's Affordable Care Act (a.k.a. Obamacare) enrollment period to Nov. 15, 2014, to give people more time to study their options, CNN reported.
The Nov. 22 story said the deadline for enrollment has also moved to Jan. 15, 2015, as opposed to Dec. 7, 2014.
"The Department of Health and Human Services wants to give insurers, consumers and engineers more time to avoid the first go-round's site crashes, coverage train wrecks and cost surprises," the story said. The date changes will not affect coverage for next year.
According to the story, the health department is hoping that the extended deadline will help insurers in getting all of the right facts and details and will also make plans more affordable.
