Carwash temporarily shuts down due to water emergency
WILLITS, Calif. — A water emergency was declared in the city on Jan. 8, according to the Daily Journal News.
This has had an impact on businesses that rely on water to provide services, such as carwashes and laundromats.
Dennis Craighead, owner of Crystal Car Wash, said he turned off his auto-wash bay in the days before the official city request. The bay accounts for around 30 percent of his business’ water usage, according to Craighead.
Craighead plans to drill a well, a $10,000 investment, that will help his wash and the city with its water problems.
“I think we’ve taken about as many steps as we can to reduce our use,” said Craighead. "Now I think we just have to see how it plays out.”
