Controllers and IBAs

February 27, 2014

Today’s in-bay automatics owners are paying close attention to their operations and heavily monitoring and maintaining the equipment, sales and car counts. These aren’t businesses that are just turned on in the morning and left alone all day.

Dan Blessing, president of Arcadian Services, a carwash chemical, equipment and parts supplier said that when it comes to today’s more modern IBAs, they are far more efficient than the older units.

According to Blessing, “Many of the units today provide superior computer monitoring and status of equipment components. This allows an owner to have rapid information of pending or actual problems as they occur, which tends to reduce downtime and increase customer satisfaction.”

Blessing suggests that new IBA owners or existing ones looking to gain more control of the wash should look into getting site controllers. Whether the owner is going on vacation, or opening another wash or simply trying to be a hands-on owner without being on the property, controllers, which are used via a smartphone, iPad, tablet or computer, can:

  • Help manage energy usage;
  • Help manage variable frequency drives;
  • Notify the owner or manager of a malfunction;
  • Report on a machine’s input and output function; and
  • Reveal wash counts and troubleshoot various other problems, such as a door that isn’t opening or closing.
