Bomb squad removes explosives after shop fire
WINNIPEG, MANITOBA, CANADA — The bomb squad responded here when explosive materials were found inside an auto body shop that had been on fire, Global Winnipeg reported.
The March 1 story stated that a fire broke out inside Eastside Collision Repairs at approximately 5 a.m. Firefighters arrived on scene and quickly doused the blaze.
Five hours later, police evacuated the building and blocked traffic in the area when explosive materials were found by investigators. The bomb squad responded, and the business was “made safe” at about noon.
Officers would not name the exact nature of the explosives, but they confirmed it was not an item that would normally be found at any business.
Police would not speak much about the incident, but they said that the crime does not appear to have any link to organized crime.
