Burning car ignites tires, causes $250K in damages
MADISON, WI — A fire spread from a burning car to a pile of tires in storage causing $250,000 worth of damage to an auto detail shop here, The Cap Times reported.
The Feb. 8 story stated that the Madison Fire Department responded to a smoky fire at American Auto Detail LLC last Saturday morning. The initial report was a car was on fire inside of the building.
Firefighters cut a hole in the overhead garage door for access to the shop, and they also cut a hole in the roof to release heat and heavy black smoke from the building, the story noted.
“The fire spread to a large amount of tires that were stored above an office area in the building,” Eric Dahl, a fire department spokesman, said in the story. “Firefighters had to pull the tires off of the office and remove them from the building to complete extinguishing the fire.”
Two people were treated on the scene, but neither went to the hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, according to the story.
