Empty, eyesore garage approved for carwash
LEEK, UNITED KINGDOM — A businessman here has carwash plans for the site of an empty tire and exhaust shop, and the town councillors approve, This Is Staffordshire reported.
The March 27 story stated that the new carwash business would create eight jobs, and it would be open every day from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The tire operation at the site has been closed for about seven years, and neighbors are complaining about the rundown state of the garage. The building has also become a target for “anti-social” behavior.
Leek Mayor Barry Cowie said in the story, “I think the site is an eyesore. Let’s get rid of it and get something decent there.”
Even with the councillors’ approval, the final decision will rest with Staffordshire Moorlands District Council.
