Four cars damaged at carwash
JOHNSTON, RI — Four cars were apparently damaged at the Valero gas station carwash, the JohnstonPatch reported.
The Feb. 25 story said the cars exited the tunnel carwash unattended. Customer Laurie Powers said carwash employees allowed her car to roll away and go across the street and strike a cinder block wall.
Gas station owner Bassam Naiefeh told Police Officer Michael Edwards, who was called to the scene, that he retrieved her car from across the street and said there was some minor damage. Naiefeh said he would pay for the damaged incurred.
That same day, another car owned by Carmalita Blanco-Barboza was damaged when it rolled out of the carwash and onto the street. An employee was able to jump into the car before it struck a building, but damaged the car’s interior in the process.
Upon further investigation, Edwards found out that other cars were damaged at the carwash.
Customer Jamie Erice said his car’s paint was damaged after he took it to the carwash. Naiefeh told Edwards that he didn’t hear of a complaint from the customer and didn’t think the carwash was at fault.
Apparently police were called to the carwash back on Feb. 3 after customer Mark Lanzieri complained that his car’s paint finish had been damaged.
Officer Adam Catamero said carwash Manager Richard Hartmann said the problem with the carwash, which caused the damages, was fixed.
