A Rocky Mount realtor is bringing a new independently-owned touch-free, automatic carwash to the area.
Rod Holloman said that he and his wife Mazie will be opening a two-bay laser carwash and began work on the site recently.
A carwash seemed to be the best direction to go in since Holloman realized there was demand for it. He thinks a two-bay carwash will keep customer lines moving.
Holloman researched the carwash project for nine months. He said he invested $250,000 for land, $250,000 for equipment and $250,000 for the building and intends to have the Squeaky Clean carwash open by November.Raleigh, NC
One year after a tragic accident, where local man Dale Hardee was killed and others injured, Hardee's family has memorialized their son by naming a carwash after him.
Hardee was killed after a truck slammed into Peggy's Seafood, the restaurant he helped build from the ground up.
A year after the accident, Calvin Hardee Jr. is remembering his son in a special way: the restaurant is now gone, but right next door is a carwash called Dale's Cleansing Well Carwash.
Family members said the carwash is about more than just carrying on Dale's name. It's about making sure his dream is fulfilled.
Dale's family said they know he would be proud of the carwash and that gives them comfort as they continue to deal with his tragic death.Bristol, CT
The Windsor Locks Planning and Zoning Commission voted recently to approve a site plan application to construct a full-service carwash which has unique design issues.
Wilson M. Alford's future wash site reportedly presented some unique problems to the commission.
The plan consists of a primary two-story building, which will house a 110 foot full-service tunnel and a small restaurant inside which will consist of a bar style counter with stools and four booths.
The design presented a challenge to the commission because, as part of the design, a "wing" is attached.
The designer plans to have a sign on the building, but the commission would have the final say.
The commission decided to approve the plan if the applicant agreed to have staff determine if the lighting was correct before the building began.
In addition to the full-service wash and eating area, the site will also include two self-service washes that will be for cars and small pickup trucks as well as an area outside for eating and a takeout bar featuring ice cream.Rensselaer, IN
After being out of service for several years, the Northside Car Wash has been re-opened and revamped.
Roger and Marci Kennedy, a husband and wife team, purchased the carwash last August and worked on it for a full year before reopening it for business.
Roger, a self-employed electrician, entered the carwash business in 2001, when he purchased two carwashes, one in Francesville and one in Monon.
Kennedy said that the carwash in Rensselaer appealed to him because of the city's size, and his frequent electric dealings in the vicinity.
The carwash has two self-serve bays and one automatic bay. At the automatic bay, drivers can choose from economy, regular, deluxe and premium washes with a dryer option, as well as pay by cash, coin or credit card.
Northside Car Wash held its official grand opening recently, where visitors received half-priced washes. The wash will be open 24 hours-a-day, seven days each week.
