Lulu’s Xpress Car Wash broke ground on its first location here on Christmas Day.

The $2 million carwash and company headquarters will be constructed on a one-acre site, offering exterior express washes and free vacuums.

The family owned and operated facility is expected to be fully operational by May 2006, and will be the first $3 exterior express carwash in South Florida.

BRIGHTON, CO
A state-of-the-art carwash and coffeehouse featuring a local roaster will be part of the Platteview Farms Retail Center set to open in the spring of 2006.

Mark Cordova will own and operate the 3,000-square-foot retail center, which will house the Lickety-Split Car Wash with four self-serve carwash bays and two automatic carwash bays and the DAZBOG coffeehouse, which will include a double drive-through and a walk-in patio.

Cordova is just one of the many wash operators across the country adding other profit centers to their sites, which sell things like coffee, gas and food to carwash customers.

The carwash will be touch-free with sensors that read the contours of a vehicle.

According to Cordova, it will be the first of three retail centers he plans to build in the north metro area in Brighton.

SHELTON, CT
Splash Car Wash announced the opening of their 20th location and 16th site in Connecticut.

The new wash is equipped with a full-service hand wash tunnel and an express exterior tunnel.

“We are extremely excited about operating in this area and being able to service the community,” Mark Curtis, president of Splash Car Wash, said.

DAYTONA BEACH, FL
Gas Stations USA has finally been able to transform a 1.5-acre site here into a carwash, gas station and c-store.

The plan had been in the works for almost two years, and faced opposition because of the increased amount of traffic the site will bring.

“I think it’s just a matter of a growing population,” David Schuh, a five-year resident of the area said.

PITTSBURGH
SFM Partners of Pittsburgh announced they are leasing a piece of property for a new automatic Laser Wash carwash here.

An existing gas station on the site will be demolished to make room for the new facility, and the new split-face brick veneer will be part of a closed building that is required in the zoning code.

This is the third Laser Wash to open in Pittsburgh.

SENOIA, GA
Senoia business owner Greg Crook will finally be able to open his carwash after months of discussion with residents, the city Planning Commission and the City Council.

Crook was issued a variance that will allow him to start building on the site, but the Department of Transportation rejected Crook’s plan to allow access to the carwash from the state highway.

IOWA CITY, IA
The Three Bulls Development group hopes to include a carwash in their proposed $24 million project that will include a strip mall, townhouses, and single-family homes.

The carwash will be a part of a strip mall that also includes a convenience store, coffee shop, butchery, bakery and restaurants.

The project is set to begin in early June, and may include other retail businesses or doctor and dentist offices .
