Rob’s Car Wash, recently opened here to join a growing number of 24-hour self-serve carwashes attached to shopping centers in the Fredericksburg area.

Rob Preihs, owner of Rob’s Car Wash, said that he plans to open a third wash next year attached to a shopping center being built in Harrison Crossing, VA.

Franklin, TN
A $3 million upscale auto spa facility finally got the green light from the city planning commission and construction began this month.

The Miles will be a 10,000-square-foot facility offering cleaning, accessorizing and customizing.

The wash features: an automated three-lane carwash with interior and exterior detailing options, a waiting room offering a coffee bar, gourmet snack bar, fireplace and flat-screen televisions; and a retail shop featuring custom wheels, tires and performance exhaust and suspension and other enhancement accessories.

Springfield, MA
Michael W. Frisbie, president of, Hunter Development Co. and former real estate manager for Shell Oil Inc., said his former employer avoided investing in Western Massachusetts, but he won’t make the same mistake.

Hunter Development will begin construction of a $2.5 million combination gas station-convenience store, carwash and drive through service window in March.

“There’s an excellent opportunity for new development in Springfield and other areas around Springfield,” Frisbie said. “We had to think out of the box in Springfield and working with the city has been great.”

Fort Belvoir, VA
A new carwash opened on post at the U.S. Army’s Fort Belvoir will be maintained by the division of Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR), and all profit generated at the wash will be put into the MWR fund to benefit soldiers and their families.

The self-serve carwash will operate 24-hours-a-day.

Construction of the new facility began three years ago; however, it was delayed due to a number of construction issues.
