Pizza and carwashing don’t necessarily go together, but Frank Mazzarisi, the owner of Maria’s Pizza is hoping he can make a connection now that he also owns Frank’s Car Wash.
Mazzarisi put up a new roof, seal coating, a new vacuum, new sprayers, new pumps and new water softener at the six-bay self-serve carwash. A seventh bay is for trucks and large vehicles and an eighth bay holds an automatic touchless carwash.
“I’m very excited about this. I’m learning something new every day,” Mazzarisi said.
Mazzarisi said he plans to hire an employee to be onsite to answer questions and help customers. “Really, it’s all about customer service,” he said.

A new self-serve carwash here has bays for all sizes of vehicles, including tractor-trailers, RVs and boats.
Owners Calvin Smith and Craig Friesen opened the carwash this April in a commercial plaza next to the town’s Laundromat.
The facility includes a machine for changing cash into coins, as well as a surveillance video system.
Cactus Car Wash, a franchising chain of six conveyor locations based in Atlanta, GA, has opened its first Florida location with plans to open a second this summer.
The newest Cactus wash features a Southwestern-themed lounge area with a gourmet coffee bar, hi-definition televisions, free internet access and free telephone (VoIP) service for calls anywhere in North America.
Cactus held a grand opening for the Ocala, FL, location this April. The event included prizes, discounted services and lunch provided by Ipanema Steakhouse.
The second A Better Carwash was opened here with a ribbon-cutting ceremony in April. Jim Beetham opened the first A Better Carwash, or ABC Carwash, in Golden, CO, in June 2005.
Both washes feature touchless in-bay automatic carwash equipment, as well as self-serve bays and prices range from $2 to $10. The newest location is a 4,500 square-foot facility which cost $3 million and is spread out on 9/10-acre site.
The system is also environmentally friendly and has 48 photovoltaic solar panels as well as a water reclaim system. "We may be the only carwash in [the area] that uses reclaimed water," Beetham stated.
Beetham said remote management technology and surveillance cameras will help him operate two sites simultaneously.
