Eagles Car Wash opened its two self-serve bays and one in-bay automatic carwash this July.
Owner Jesse Jasso decided to build his carwash on the south side of town because of the absence of other wash facilities in that area.
“It will give us a little bit of an advantage to have it there," he said.
"Maybe somebody else will start building out there as well. Maybe spread it out a little."
He named the business after the local high school mascot.
Sudsy's Car Wash celebrated a grand opening on May 29 and May 30 by giving back to Special Kids, a therapeutic rehabilitation program. The wash donated $2,000 to the program.
The celebration included a ribbon cutting ceremony, a live radio broadcast out of the carwash lot, free balloons and stickers for the kids, free air freshners for each vehicle, a visit from the Sudsy duck mascot and a raffle for a year’s worth of free carwashes.
Co-owner Troy VanLiere said, "It was an incredibly fulfilling weekend. It was overwhelming to see our families' vision of Sudsy's come to life. But to be able to give back through an organization like Special Kids and see our community support the event — that put it over the top for us. It was a dream come true."
Car Wash USA Express is expanding its carwash footprint in and around the Memphis area, and is working on building two new washes after it bought an already-existing one last year.
The company filed a $1.8 million loan for one carwash and had bought the property back in April for $650,000. The .67-acre location used to house a Mr. Pride carwash which was built in 1964.
The company also bought an existing carwash in April 2008 in Collierville, TN, and last July filed a loan to construct another tunnel carwash in Memphis.
The new Octopus Car Wash is a full-serve carwash and detailing center that is also providing jobs to 25 people.
Octopus is being run by Jody Bernal and her husband Ed and her father Leon Marx.
With 24 locations, the Octopus chain was ranked in the top 10 in Professional Carwashing Detailing’s list of the largest 50 conveyor carwash chains in the United States.
“We are extremely excited about opening in Sahuarita. The area is growing and we thought the time was right to jump in,” Jody said.
The Octopus Car Wash offers a state-of-the art rotating brush, a retail area, and eight shaded detailing bays. Prices start at $5.99 for a basic wash and a full-service wash is $6.99.
He’s only 18 years old, but Jake Pautsch is finding success as the owner of Difinity Auto Detail.
Pautsch has been working steadily since his middle school days when he started his own business distributing t-shirts and hats. Since then he worked at various places including a pizza shop and started detailing cars on the side.
“I was car detailing a quarter of the time that I was working at the pizza parlor but was making twice the money,” Pautsch said.
Figuring that he likes working for himself, he saved enough money and opened the detail shop. “I didn’t think it would go this well,” he said. “I hoped it would. But whether it fails or succeeds, at least I tried it.”
Higgins Lake, MI
A boat wash is opening here and will operate the same as a self-serve carwash.
The Higgins Lake wash was opened to try and keep invasive species from spreading from lake to lake.
Local organizations and individuals brought the wash about and it was funded mostly by the Higgins Lake Foundation.
Rick Meeks, vice president of the Higgins Lake Property Owners, said we "need state and local ordinances which would require that boats be washed when transported from lake to lake. But this boat wash was accomplished at a grass roots level.”
