SAN DIEGO — After they admitted to knowingly hiring undocumented workers, a carwash owner and manager here are facing some stiff sentencing, according to U-T San Diego.
The Jan. 22 story stated that Ju Hea Kim, owner of Betty’s Car Wash, and Manager Sun Jae Lee both pleaded guilty to federal felony conspiracy charges. The pair was arrested in October following an investigation by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Both now acknowledge that they conspired to hire at least 10 people who were not authorized to work in the United States, the story noted.
The plea deal calls for the business to forfeit over $85,000 in earnings and for both men to pay a fine. Also, prosecutors recommended an eight-month prison sentence for Lee and a revocation of visa and deportation for Kim, U.S. Attorney Laura Duffy said in the article.
Kim is scheduled to be sentenced in February, and Lee is set for April.
