SHELTON, CT — Splash Car Wash here attempted to add on a pet wash, but was denied after the addition was not deemed a “necessary accessory” by the city because the carwash is in a Planned Development District (PDD), according to a SheltonPatch report.
The Feb. 16 story said a statement was released by city Planning Consultant Tony Panico and given to the Planning & Zoning Commission during their Feb. 14 monthly meeting which read: The proposed dog wash is not a permitted use under the PDD and is not identified as a necessary accessory.
Chairwoman Ruth Parkins said in the story, “A public hearing would be necessary to modify a PDD. …I think this is a great concept, but we have to be careful. We can’t set the precedent that we can change things on a whim because we want to.”
Splash Car Wash said they plan to submit an appeal to change the city rules.
