Professional Carwashing & Detailing

October 11, 2010

Professional Carwashing & Detailing® magazine spoke with Dennis O’Shaughnessy Sr., president of the New York State Carwash Association (NYSCWA), as well as owner of Glenmont Car Wash, Glenmont, NY.

Professional Carwashing & Detailing®: What was your reaction to the Northeast Regional Carwash Convention?
Dennis O’Shaughnessy Sr: Extremely impressed. The first day’s new investor seminar had a huge turn out with great questions being asked and an immense amount of interaction between the audience and the speaker.

PC&D: Even though it is early, what might next year’s show look like?
D.O.: Since we are very competitive when it comes to the creation of these shows, next year’s show holders (most likely New England) will attempt to top this year’s show. They were present at this year’s show, making reservations with vendors to ensure their attendance next year.

PC&D: What is new with your carwash in Glenmont?
D.O.: We are coming up to our one-year anniversary of our installation of our in-bay automatic and so far I have been very happy with it. This winter however, will be the true test to decide whether I will be installing another one come this spring.

My carwash as well as others have been buttoning down the hatches for the increase in natural gas prices. It will be expensive to heat the carwash, but it is a necessity.
