Update: Appeal letter a problem for approved wash
EDMOND, OK — A resident upset about plans to build a carwash will be the first to utilize the new zoning code’s appeal process here, NewsOK reported.
The Feb. 11 story stated that Emil L. Coffey submitted an appeal letter to the city disagreeing with the findings of the planning commission.
As PC&D reported in January, commissioners approved the site plan for an Okie Express Car Wash by a 3-2 vote.
Even though the plans were approved, residents in a nearby neighborhood were against the carwash due to it being an “industrial-type business.” They also expressed concerns about water runoff and noise, the story noted.
Coffey lives within 300 feet of the proposed development, and he wrote in the appeal letter that he disagrees with the commission that the developer should only be required to install a 6-foot fence between the homeowner’s property and the carwash.
