Wacky carwash commercial part of new TV show
FAYETTEVILLE, NC — The creators of a new TV show on IFC told a writer here that one of the first two episodes will highlight a carwash, according to fayobserver.com.
The June 23 story said “Commercial Kings” follows the show’s creators as they work with quirky businesses to craft TV ads. The finished commercials are shown at the end of each episode.
The carwash episode will show the creation of a commercial for Presidential Car Wash in Hollywood, CA, the story said. The creators, Rhett McLaughlin and Link Neal, convinced the uncomfortable carwash owners to dress up like Abraham Lincoln and other presidents and rap about their business.
McLaughlin and Neal said in the story that they do not charge the companies for making the commercials, and the businesses can decide whether to air them on television.
“It’s a dream come true for us to have a show that documents something that we truly love,” Neal said in the story. “When all is said and done, we’ve helped these businesses and gotten the employees and business owners to do things that they never thought they could do or would do, but they’re happy when they see the final product. It’s really rewarding to help people, and it’s also just a lot of fun to be able to take it to the next level.”
Presidential Car Wash’s completed commercial can be seen here.
