Wash plan passes despite opposition
EDMOND, OK — The planning commission here approved the site plan for an Okie Express Car Wash despite local opposition, NewsOK reported.
The Jan. 4 story stated that the commission approved the plan submitted by owner Mike North in a 3-2 decision.
Some property owners in the area spoke out against the carwash and called it an “industrial-type business.” Nearby residents also cited concerns about water runoff and noise, according to the story.
“The drainage is a concern of me for environmental concerns,” Emil Coffey, a nearby resident, said in the article. “I contend the business should not be allowed. But if it is, it should be modified.”
Despite the concerns raised, the vote on the plan is final. No city council vote is required because the plan does not include variances from city codes, the story noted.
