Seven tips for lobby and restroom cleaning

1. Regular vacuuming. Using an ergonomic, HEPA vacuum cleaner, cleaners should attend to entryways and lobby areas frequently throughout the day or as needed. Since vacuum noise can interrupt a client’s positive experience, consider waiting until the area is vacant or slow.

2. Color-coded for cleaning success and health. Designate different colors throughout the facility and color-code your cleaning and maintenance activities. A set program can reduce cross-contamination and also assist in training initiatives.

3. Have a plan. Focus on commonly touched and used areas. Also, frequently examine hard-to-reach areas, such as corners in a restroom. Set a strategic cleaning regimen among staff and make sure they stick to it.

4. Use updated new equipment. In addition to specially designed tools for hard-to-reach areas, consider some modern equipment on the market that reduces user strain and promotes productivity and health.

5. Use updated traditional equipment. For those who feel more comfortable with traditional methods of cleaning, consider updating your string mops with microfiber mops, for example. Dual compartment buckets, as another example, can separate clean and dirty water, which enhances results and preserves health and well-being.

6. Training and re-training. Your employees need initial restroom and lobby cleaning training as well as ongoing training. 7. Play defense. Avoiding an issue and cleaning needs is paramount to the process. For cost savings and safety, hand-washing, matting and signage are needed.
