AKINSDALE, ALBERTA, CANADA — A 15-bay carwash that recently began construction has neighbors concerned about parking, traffic and safety here, the St. Albert Gazette reported.

The Jan. 18 story stated that the wash was approved without many neighbors even knowing about the business.

Keri McEachern, who lives nearby, said she didn’t know about the wash until construction fences went up last week. “I just couldn’t believe it,” she said in the story. “I think it’s odd that a 15-bay carwash would go in a residential neighborhood.”

The carwash was reviewed and approved by the Subdivision and Development Appeal Board last May, and two residents were there who opposed the development, the story noted.

Even so, the board agreed to let the carwash proceed if the business followed 25 conditions, including automatic bay doors, no outside vacuums, a parking agreement and limited operating hours, according to the story.
