“Tides of Carwashing” is Professional Carwashing & Detailing’s most recent effort to bring you much-needed information on current issues. Each month, PC&D staff will select a hot topic in the industry. A multi-question poll (not to exceed 10 questions) will be sent to all of our online subscribers in order to gather relevant statistics and data.

This month’s poll focused on drought and its affect on the carwash industry. The poll was made possible by the sponsorship of CATEC, a water reclaim system provider. For more information about CATEC, call Dean Taylor at (941) 751-5656 or visit www.catec.com.

This data is meant to show a general attitude and is not thoroughly exhaustive. For instance, 33 states are represented, and as you might imagine, the majority of carwash operators that responded are from areas currently suffering severe drought. Also, the terms of the survey were subjective. Of the 22 responders from North Carolina, 17 said they had been affected by drought in the last five years, while five responders indicated they have not been affected.
