Autobell Car Wash, Inc. recently opened its 43rd location in the US and fifth location in Virginia.

Professional Carwashing & Detailing spoke with Chuck Howard to find out the secrets behind the company's success and where Autobell may be branching out to next.

Professional Carwashing & Detailing: How do you feel about the opening of Autobell's 43rd location?

Chuck Howard: I am certainly very proud and excited about the opening — it's helping us to round out our locations in Virginia.

PC&D: What are some of the future goals for Autobell?

CH: I think that Autobell will continue to grow. We don't have any set number goal — we just look for opportunities to purchase existing washes or build new sites.

I think that's good for the company and we'll continue to develop our process so that it fits into any market that we decide to go in to. That should keep us busy for the next few years.

PC&D: What is Autobell's Best Customer program?

CH: The ABC program, as we like to call it, is a program that we rolled out about a year ago. We have about 4,500 customers and every day we add a few more customers to it.

Basically it's a card that the customer carries that entitles them to discounts if they return to our wash within 10 days, and after 10 washes they get a free wash.

PC&D: Does Autobell have plans to expand into other areas of the US?

CH: I think right now we're just looking at the markets where we already have a presence, which includes the Carolinas and Virginia.

We're really not looking for new markets where we don't already have washes.

PC&D: What's the secret behind the company's success?

CH: Our people. We have very dedicated and experienced people that have been with us for a long time and they understand our process and our way of doing things.

That is what really makes our company successful.
