This year’s Car Care World Expo, presented by the International Carwash Association (ICA), will feature a plethora of events for everyone involved in the car care industry. Offerings range from educational sessions to a packed trade show floor with over 150,000-sq. ft. of exhibit space.

Professional Carwashing & Detailing® magazine spoke with Mark Thorsby, executive director of the ICA, to get the scoop.

PC&D: When and where will Car Care World Expo 2007 take place?

Mark Thorsby: March 25-28, 2007, at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, NV. In 2008, it will be held in Orlando, FL.

PC&D: What are your predicted attendance numbers for this year?

MT: We are expecting between 10,000-11,000 attendees. Over the last four years, the convention has exceeded 10,000.

Attendance records were slightly lower for 2006 due to the Expo moving to the middle of March. In most parts of the country, the prime carwashing season usually begins to decline in late March.

PC&D: What special events have been planned for this year?

MT: A free event for ICA members only, called Celebrate 2007, will take place on Sunday, March 25. This gives members the opportunity to celebrate membership success and establish a professional network. Anyone who is not a member can join the association at the expo for $225.

Also taking place for members is the Annual Membership Meeting and State of the Industry Address on Monday, the 26th. On Tuesday, March 27, the Leadership Luncheon will recognize the contributions of so many individuals.

PC&D: Who will give the keynote address?

MT: Seasoned business industry veteran Michael Treacy will present the keynote address “Double-Digit Growth” on Tuesday, March 27. He will use case examples to demonstrate four key insights to implement at an operation to achieve double-digit growth.

PC&D: Out of all the seminars offered, which is the most popular?

MT: It depends on who you are — if you are new to the industry or planning on adding a new location, it would have to be the New Investor Seminar, taking place Sunday, March 25.

If you are a conveyor, self-service or in-bay automatic carwash operator, it would have to be any one of more than 30 seminars offered on Monday and Tuesday morning, March 26 and 27.

PC&D: What else can you tell us about this year’s expo?

MT: Last year, we had over 80 first-time exhibitors and over 80 companies participate in our new product program. The number one reason people come to Car Care World Expo is to see new products.

Our goal this year is to feature over 100 companies unveiling and releasing new products. We are also building our online video database that will be packaged and available on the in-house television systems at the Las Vegas Hilton.

For people who are staying at the hotel there will be programming available in-suite to compliment their Expo experience.
