Grace for Vets, a program that honors all veterans and military personnel by giving them a free carwash on Veterans Day, reported it had carwashes registered in all 50 states. As of 11 a.m. on Nov. 9, a press release said that 521 companies with 1275 locations in all 50 states had registered to participate.
Bob Ruhe, the Grace for Vets project manager, said the numbers are up from 2009, which had 251 participating companies with 655 locations in just 45 states.
According to a CSP news story, PDQ Manufacturing Inc., announced its support of the Grace For Vets program. Ken Dollhopf, PDQ's vice president of marketing and new business development, said in the story, "Grace For Vets is a great organization that is doing great work for our military veterans and service personnel, and we are extremely honored to lend our support to the cause. With that in mind, we urge all car wash operators to consider participation in this worthwhile program as a small way of letting our military personnel, both active and retired, know that they are in our thoughts and to thank them for their service."
Brown Bear Car Washes, based in the state of Washington, are not only giving free washes to veterans, but to their spouses as well. A press release quoted Brown Bear president and founder Vic Odermat, a Marine Corps veteran, who said, “Our organization is proud to honor veterans and service personnel. While the washes are free, we know that freedom is not. This is a way for us to show our support and gives us a unique opportunity to say ‘thank you’ to people who sacrifice for our freedom.”
