Last year, around 1,500 people showed up for the 19th annual Northeast Regional Carwash Convention (NRCC), a number which exceeded expectations. NRCC Convention Manager Julie Stanton spoke to Professional Carwashing & Detailing about this year’s show, which be held Oct. 19 to Oct. 21 at the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City, NJ.

Professional Carwashing & Detailing: How many attendees are you anticipating this year?

Julie Stanton: We expect to see at our show around 1500 people.

Professional Carwashing & Detailing: What are some of the things you think attendees will be looking for at this year’s show?

Julie Stanton: Attendees come to our show to see the most innovative technology the industry has to offer on the show floor and listen to industry experts discuss ideas and give suggestions on how to improve their businesses. This year I think attendees will also be focused on cost saving ideas.

Professional Carwashing & Detailing: Times are tough right now, financially, what advice do you have for this year's attendees who are looking for advice on ways to save money?

Julie Stanton: I strongly encourage each attendee to participate in this year’s seminars which have been geared toward managing your business through this tough economy. Our keynote speaker, Fred Grauer will look at ways to strengthen business. Our early bird panels are a terrific way to get thoughts and suggestions from peers on issues that face your wash. So come prepared with questions!

Professional Carwashing & Detailing: How is this year’s show different from last year’s?

Julie Stanton: This year is our 20th anniversary celebration where we will take a look at the changes in the carwash industry, and examine the future of the industry. We will have a slide show of carwashing past and present during our opening night reception at the Water Clubs in door pool over looking the Atlantic City skyline.

Professional Carwashing & Detailing: And how will next year’s show be different?

Julie Stanton: We have a lot of exciting changes in store for 2010. Next year we will be at the Taj Mahal! Where we will have over 60,000 square feet of exhibit space. We are very excited about the move.
