BATON ROUGE, LA — Benny's Carwash has filed an application with the city's planning commission for a zoning change to allow for a seventh location to be built, a Business Report story said.
The Nov. 12 story said if approved, this will be the chain's fifth express carwash in the area.
Justin Alford, whose family has owned the Benny's chain for the past 60 years, said in the story that they are still in the early planning phase.
"We have a little ways to go before this is a done deal," he said in the story. "But this is an area we have been looking at for a long, long time and we would like to be there. …It costs about $3 million to build out a location. Then after a few years, you have to reinvest in the facilities and upgrade the equipment."
The zoning request comes on the heels of an announcement from its competitor, Geaux Clean, which will be opening a third location nearby.
Over the past two years, Benny's has spent about $2 million upgrading its other locations.
