But I have learned that your first response might reveal, in fact, the one most important area that you need to improve, to propel your wash to the next level.
Many successful operators make important course-corrections each day as they boldly develop and fine-tune their businesses.
But others are not so fortunate, or so clear-sighted.
I have found two common and very important areas where operators felt they needed more information, or needed better information sooner.
First, many operators, despite their best efforts, continue to underestimate how expensive it is to build and maintain a peak-performing carwash.
Second, operators routinely underestimate how challenging it is to build a large and durable customer base.
Whether you feel your strong suit is controlling costs, or increasing revenues, this exercise is an important one to complete.
An honest response will reveal an area where you still need more improvement.
To get additional feedback, ask your top two or three team members who also went through the valuable experience of building your wash, what one thing they could have done to make your wash more successful quicker.
Yes, “feedback is the breakfast of champions.” Whoever made that wonderful statement, perhaps, was in the same spot in his business that you may be now.
