NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK — Carwash employees staged a protest last Saturday, the latest move in their attempt to join the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union.

Employees of the Jomar Car Wash in Flushing and Rico Pobre Car Wash in the Bronx held the protest asking for better pay and a safer work environment.

According to the New York Daily News story, both the Jomar Car Wash and Rico Pobre Car Wash are owned by John Lage. Lage own more than 20 carwashes in New York City.

“Car wash workers across the city have had enough and are fighting back against abusive conditions,” RWDSU President Stuart Appelbaum said in a statement.
