LONG BEACH, CA — For 35 years, the owners of Bixby Knolls Carwash & Detail Center have worked side-by-side to make the wash one of the best in Southern California, Gazettes reported.
The Sept. 10 story stated that Bixby Knolls is owned by husband and wife Sheldon and Shell Grossman. The couple has been married for 34 years, and they have operated the carwash since 1977.
To celebrate 35 years in carwashing, the couple has planned a celebration that will include family-friendly music, free food, giveaways and more. “We’ve been here 35 years and it’s quite an accomplishment and we want to thank the community for supporting us,” Sheldon said in the story. “We hope everyone comes out to celebrate.”
The carwash is a member of Water Savers, and it also has drought resistant landscaping and new energy efficient dryers that use a third of energy that the older models used.
Sheldon has been on the board of directors for the California Car Wash Association, the Western Car Wash Association and the International Carwash Association (ICA). The couple has also been active with a number of local business organizations.
