PINGGU, China — Some Chinese carwashes have begun to use recycled water instead of the usual drinking water, according ecns.cn.
The district has 56 carwashes, and the measure should save the area at least 25,600 tons of fresh water every year, said the article.
Recycled water is delivered every day from a local sewage treatment plant. The two delivery trucks can bring in 80 tons of water every day, noted the article.
Carwashes will also experience cost savings. Recycled water costs 10 yuan ($1.6) per ton, while fresh water is 160 yuan per ton.
