County panel approves controversial wash

TINLEY PARK, IL — Zoning allowed the proposed gas station and c-store, but special-use permits were needed.

TINLEY PARK, IL — A multi-profit business neighbors called a "monstrosity" cleared a hurdle here when its three special permits were approved, The Herald-News reported.

The March 13 story stated that the Lenny's Gas N Wash location needed special permits to allow a 150-foot carwash tunnel, drive-thru food service and packaged liquor sales. Zoning allowed the proposed gas station and c-store, but special-use permits were needed for the other elements.

Update: Owner agrees to meet with angry neighbors

The committee's vote is only advisory and the case will be reviewed by the county board's executive committee. The full county board will vote on the case on March 21.
