MELBOURNE, Australia — There are too many Australian born people willing to live off of Newstart as opposed to taking a job like carwashing, according to The Herald Sun.
One wash owner the columnist spoke with said she rarely gets applications from Angleo-Aussies. “Maybe they don’t want to do car washing,” said the owner.

A job like carwashing pays $16.30 an hour, according to the article, which is dramatically more than the $255 a week on Newstart, and the columnist suggests that pride is a major factor in Australians being unwilling to take these jobs.
