A carwash here recently completed an upgrade to the business that cost $150,000, according to the Maryland Gazette.
The upgrade included the addition of an advanced control and point of sale system. The upgrade will allow the wash to offer two new wash packages, an unlimited monthly wash and a loyalty club.
HARTLAND, WI
An Iraq War veteran who has operated a mobile detail operation here for the past four years announced the opening of a storefront location, according to a press release.
The Feb. 27 release stated that Ed Rivera will hold a soft opening for his new Elite Auto Detail shop. A grand opening and ribbon cutting will be held in a few weeks.
The business will publicize its opening with a Groupon special for a foam bath, clay bar treatment and an exterior coating. March will also be Mercedes Month at Elite with a 10 percent discount for customers who bring in Mercedes.
The operation will focus on the higher-end spectrum of detailing, and the mobile service will still be available for customers within a 30-minute drive from Hartland.
TEMPE, AZ
A carwash here marked the grand opening of a new location by giving away free gas and free carwashes, abc15.com reported.
The story stated that the first 100 customers at Cobblestone Auto Spa received 10 gallons of unleaded gas for free. Also, through the entire weekend, customers got a free exterior carwash.
Visitors that missed out on free gas were able to receive a gas discount with the purchase of a carwash. Anytime a full-service carwash is purchased at the fuel pump, the customer gets unleaded gasoline for $2.99 a gallon.
BONNERS FERRY, ID — A new carwash opened at the Conoco gas station here, the Bonners Ferry Herald reported.
The March 8 story quoted General Manager Tom Paschane who said, “The time has finally come. I’m happy it is finally here. The area needs it.”
The WashPro Razor Touchless in-bay automatic carwash offers four packages.
The carwash, which will be open 24 hours a day, is the only one of its kind in the area.
NAPERVILLE, IL
The planning and zoning commission here voted to allow a carwash to sell used cars on its property, NapervillePatch reported.
The March 7 story stated that operator Bill Loumbardis can now sell used luxury cars out of his Finish Line Hand Car Wash and Detail Center under certain conditions.
Commissioners were worried about a traffic increase, but Loumbardis’ plan was supported by testimony from a nearby home owners association and the carwash site’s previous owner.
Loumbardis expects the used car sales business to operate mainly online.
Some conditions placed on the business include keeping the car inventory at the back of the property and no repair or body work on-site.
MOUNT PLEASANT, SC
The Glasspro Pit Stop, which provides automotive services such as major repairs and quick lube services, is adding a Cactus Car Wash to its property, a Moultrie News story reported.
The March 6 story said construction began on March 1 and it is scheduled to open on June 1. The new carwash will replace the existing Pit Stop carwash.
Cactus Car Wash offers full-service and exterior-only express carwashes as well as detail services. The chain made PC&D’s Top 50 list in 2012 with 12 locations.
Paul Heinauer, president of Glasspro, also said in the story, “We are delighted to be able to join our new neighbor Cactus Car Wash to provide local residents with two outstanding facilities for virtually every car care need, including a complete range of automotive maintenance and car wash services in one convenient location.”
FAIRMOUNT, NY — Construction has begun on a new Delta Sonic multi-profit location here, according to WSYR.
The Feb. 22 story stated that the new location will be similar to another Delta Sonic in nearby North Syracuse.
The business will include a carwash, detail shop, c-store and gas pumps. The location may add a lube shop as well.
Plans for the business have not been finalized.
NEWPORT BEACH, CA
A mobile washing and detailing service here is able to use a Smart Car for transportation since it is a waterless, environmentally-friendly business, NewportBeachPatch reported.
The March 12 story stated that Earth Car Wash is designed to work around customers’ schedules, and the service only uses all-natural, waterless cleaning products. The company strives for stellar customer service as well.
Earth Car Wash can supply their own power, and their waterless wash process is clean and efficient. The product has no strong smell, and it’s biodegradable.
The business opened in 2010, and it recently launched its mobile unit. The mobile operation services Newport Beach, Costa Mesa, Los Angeles, Ventura and Orange county.
