TYLER, TX — Along with the flowers and warmth of springtime also comes the pollen and for carwash owners it means heavier traffic, the Tyler Paper reported.
The March 20 story said tree and grass pollen is now here and one carwash has already seen an increase in sales.
Mike Basaldua, general manager of Splash -N- Dash carwash, said in the story, "Even though it was cloudy on Monday, there was still more traffic than usual. I was there (at the carwash) Monday, and most people were complaining about the pollen."
Basaldua also said customers come back more often this time of year.
A March 19 story in the Longview News-Journal quoted Mike Pigott, a senior meteorologist with AccuWeather, who stated, that the South — from Arizona to Alabama — is covered in pollen.
Wash refers to returning pollen as ‘gold dust’
“It is mainly a result of warmer-than-average temperatures for the start of spring, especially west,” Pigott said in the story. “So far in March, the temperatures in West Texas have been three degrees above normal, which has led to trees blooming out early.”
